Marvel’s Wolverine shows off progression, costumes, combat, and more

By August 29, 2026No Comments2 Mins Read

Sony and Insomniac Games have released a new trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine, showcasing a number of in-game features from combat techniques and levelling up to accessibility options and photo mode.

Narrated by Liam McIntyre – the Aussie actor who plays Logan – this latest video packs in a serious amount of info ahead of the game’s launch on September 15th, 2026. First, we get an in-depth overview of Wolverine’s combat gameplay: it’s fast and frenzied, rewarding players who go on the offence and build their rage meter by delivering punishing combos. With his mutant healing factor, our hero can take an ungodly amount of punishment, though you’ll still need to dodge and parry as you go up against a diverse array of enemies.

To keep things fresh throughout your playthrough, Wolverine will earn experience points from combat and exploration with each new level allowing you to unlock a skill and add depth to the combat gameplay. This is further expanded by Adaptations which are treated like equippable perks, offering bonuses such as a larger window to parry incoming attacks. It’s worth point out that there is a limitation to how many of these you can equip, though this cap will increase as you progress the story and unlock certain collectables.

To avoid potential spoilers, we won’t mention any of the locations or characters who make an appearance, though it will be fascinating to see how (or if) the upcoming PS5 exclusive will tie into Insomniac’s Spider-Man series. Fans won’t have to speculate over when Marvel’s Wolverine will be getting a new game plus mode. While some games hold it back a few weeks or months, Insomniac will make the feature available via a day one patch.

Another feature worth mentioning is Insomniac’s new-and-improved photo mode. As we saw in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, there were a ton of options to help capture and enhance your in-game screenshots. While the new trailer pumps up the photo mode’s lighting features, keen-eyed watchers will be able to pick out some other settings as they get ready to hammer that share button on their DualSense controller.

We recently got some hands-on time with Marvel’s Wolverine and our full written review will drop shortly before the game’s launch next month.
