Creatures of Sonaria, a popular mini-game featured in Roblox, is being made into a TV series. As reported by Deadline, the deal has been done “inspired by the recent success of The Last of Us”. A new lawsuit has been filed against major gaming companies Roblox, Microsoft, Epic Games, and Mojang AB in Pennsylvania. The lawsuit alleges that the companies encourage compulsive gaming that has led a 15-year-old girl to develop significant social and mental problems. The lawsuit says that Roblox, Minecraft, and Fortnite have incorporated operant conditioning into their games, offering players rewards to continue playing. Operant conditioning is a learning process where behavior is modified by stimuli. Mick Gordon, the composer for the forthcoming Atomic Heart, has further explained his decision to donate his entire fee to Red Cross Australia’s Ukraine Crisis Appeal, via a statement to Eurogamer. Writing on Twitter yesterday, Gordon said he donated the fee “to stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine”. Our chums at PlayStation have shared more about Kemuri, the giddy new third-person action game from a team lead by former Tango Gameworks developer and E3 2019 scene-stealer Ikumi Nakamura. In case you missed the 2023 announcement, it casts you as an athletic yokai hunter swooping and flipping around a “sprawling vertical city”. The obvious reference point is Ghostwire: Tokyo, Nakamura’s previous and more ponderous yokai-hunting project for Tango.
