The purple dragon is back, with Toys for Bob entrusted with creating a new adventure in Spyro: A Realm Beyond, in development for Xbox, PS5, Switch 2 and PC and a Spring 2027 release.

Here’s the trailer’s blurb:

Take flight on a brand-new adventure through a strange and wondrous realm. When Spyro finds himself stranded, his journey to discover a way home is interrupted by the arrival of a vicious invading force known as the Scavs. Spyro must make new allies and rise to protect this realm before it’s changed forever. Feel the freedom of flight as you soar above vibrant landscapes, weave between treetops, dive off massive landmarks and wing your way through this new realm in Spyro ’s boldest evolution yet. Carve your path through the skies and chain together dives, climbs and tight turns as you navigate the world your way.

There had been rumours of a new Spyro being in development at Toys for Bob for a few years now, the studio having confirmed a partnership with Microsoft that Toys for Bob while announcing their newfound independence in early 2024, splitting out following the Activision purchase.

Toys for Bob was founded all the way back in 1989, but had their biggest and most notable success decades later with the toys-to-life Skylanders series – itself a Spyro spin-off – which ran for a few years before the genre quickly peaked and faded into nothingness. They then created the very well received Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time in 2018 and 2020 respectively, and last year’s Crash Team Rumble. However, they had also been sucked into the Activision-wide grind to produce supporting content for the Call of Duty franchise. Thankfully, with the studio going independent, they’ve been able to escape that grind and get back reviving classic platformer franchises.

Developer SBN3 has announced the latest entry in the Class of ’09 series, Class of ’09 Puzzle Showdown!

Class of ’09 is an irreverent visual novel taking place in the late 2000s in highschool. Anyone who lived through that time at that age probably thought the games were hilarious and since then the series has gained a niche and dedicated fanbase.

The latest entry takes the visual novel format and adds match-3 style gameplay, to what end? We’re not sure. But there’s supposed to be five campaigns of story likely filled with the kind of humor we’ve come to expect from the series.

Last month, Maximum Entertainment released its open-world survival game Smalland: Survive the Wilds on the Switch 2.

Now, in an update, it’s unveiled its next chapter in the “beloved miniature-scale” franchise with the announcement of Smalland 2: Lost Realms. The Switch 2 version will launch after other versions of the game and is currently planned for a 2027 release – so there’s still time to play through the original release.

This second entry is actually a prequel taking place before the events of the original game. It will transport players to a mythical era before the Giants arrived. Here’s what else you can expect, courtesy of the official PR:

In this vast new adventure, players will explore a sprawling world filled with elemental creatures, forgotten civilizations, and mysterious lands waiting to be rediscovered.

As a member of the Smallfolk, players must journey across the Lost Realms to uncover ancient secrets and confront a dark prophecy foretelling a catastrophe that threatens the future of the world.

Players will traverse diverse regions, each featuring unique cultures, resources, and challenges. Whether venturing alone or alongside friends, survivors can establish outposts, forge trade routes between distant lands, and build thriving networks to help their people evolve in these diverse environments.

The title also promises to offer a “larger world, deeper progression systems, creature companionships” and even 10-player co-op. There’ll also be a new crafting system, new water and climbing mechanics, enhanced visuals, greater detail and improved environmental effects.

After leaks and rumors, Atlus has finally officially announced Persona 6.

Persona 6 is in development for Windows PC (Steam, Microsoft Store), Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. A release date wasn’t announced.

Indie developer 13AM Games has announced Dungeon Lurker, a new retro action roguelike game with stylish 3D pixel.

Dungeon Lurker is in development for Windows PC (via Steam) with a release set for sometime in early 2027.
