Ubisoft has revealed The Division 2: Into The Dark, the latest free seasonal update to the looter shooter, adding a fully PvE Dark Zone, a refreshed PvPvE Dark Zone, and a tease for a new Incursion coming later this year.

Launching today, Into The Dark shifts the focus of the game back to the Dark Zone and the Hyenas faction. They’ve developed a new “Potent Spice” formula, which I’m sure is still a cheap knockoff compared to the stuff that Paul Atreides huffs on Arrakis, but which is enough to make them a much more taxing challenge to overcome as it makes them more resistant to pain.

You’ll fight these Hyenas within the Toxis Dark Zone, a new PvE version of the Dark Zone that is exclusive to this season of the game. This is still a shared space for up to 12 Agents, but Rogue Protocol and friendly fire are deactivated. To ensure you still need to scramble to get out, Toxicity applies hazardous effects over time and build up the longer you stay inside. You can dispell some of this with Surged Active Modifiers, or leaving the Dark Zone. Extraction can only be called in when you have a Stabilization Agent, from Landmark Chests and Landmark Bosses, while taking out Hunters in the TDZ guarantee 1 Exotic Component and a 2% change to drop Eagle Bearer or Ravenous.

Alongside this you still have the standard Dark Zone, but there’s also a new Balanced Dark Zone, which applies PvP-style level matching to the session, emphasising player skill over gear strength. The PvP experience as a whole is being revamped with changes across Conflict in addition to the Dark Zone varients to rebalance weapons and gear talents. Future PvP updates will look at Skills, Attributes, Status Effects.

Through this season, two new Classified Assignments will be available – Conspiracy Zone Hideout on June 16 and McMillan Reservoir Assault on July 21 – which will offer a focus on exploration and storytelling within these locations. Later this season, a new Incursion will take place on Steel Creek Dam and Hydroelectric Plant as the Rikers take control of the location amidst worsening weather conditions.

Dota 2 Patch 7.41d brings big changes to heros and items https://gaming.vmondeika.com/dota-2-patch-7-41d-brings-big-changes-to-heros-and-items/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/dota-2-patch-7-41d-brings-big-changes-to-heros-and-items/#respond Fri, 12 Jun 2026 12:44:37 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/dota-2-patch-7-41d-brings-big-changes-to-heros-and-items/

Valve dropped the Dota 2 7.41d patch, proving once again that even during major competitive tournaments, your favorite digital gladiators are never safe from the balance hammer. The update targets a long list of meta-defining heroes while also giving the game’s couch cushions a thorough shake, altering everything from neutral items to teleportation physics.

The biggest news for cash-strapped support players is a discount on Dagon. Valve shaved 50 gold off the recipe cost, making the burst-damage staff slightly easier to buy when your economy is in the toilet.

On the flip side, Mage Slayer caught a tiny nerf to its bonus damage, dropping from 15 to 12. If you are a fan of pop-up notifications, using Smoke of Deceit now automatically types a message into your allied chat, finally alerting your oblivious teammates that a gank is happening.

Teleporting got weirdly precise too. If you self-cast a Town Portal scroll, your hero will now land slightly closer to the Ancient. More importantly, teleportation animations will now partially track units that can move while channeling, like Phoenix or Storm Spirit, meaning enemies can easily look at your drifting animation and figure out exactly where you are trying to escape.

Hero Balances In Dota 2 Patch 7.41d

In the hero department, Chaos Knight is laughing all the way to the lane. His Phantasm illusion damage got a massive bump in the early and mid-game, letting him hit like a truck much sooner. Ancient Apparition also enjoyed a pleasant update, getting a damage per second increase on Cold Feet and a lower cooldown on Chilling Touch.

The fun had to end somewhere, and Kez took the absolute brunt of the beating. The bird samurai was utterly gutted with cooldown increases and damage reductions across multiple abilities, significantly ruining his ability to look cool in long teamfights. Hoodwink, Invoker, and Ember Spirit were also dragged down a peg, while Snapfire lost her Boomstick interaction and took a hit to her Cookie healing.

Over in the jungle, almost every neutral item received a minor buff, save for Spider Legs, which had its duration reduced. To balance out the jungle love, the Alert and Timeless enchantments received noticeable nerfs to their night vision and attack range bonuses, meaning you can no longer snipe enemies quite as effectively from the comfort of the shadows.

Final Fantasy Resonance brings an all new HD-2D game with classic turn-based action https://gaming.vmondeika.com/final-fantasy-resonance-brings-an-all-new-hd-2d-game-with-classic-turn-based-action/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/final-fantasy-resonance-brings-an-all-new-hd-2d-game-with-classic-turn-based-action/#respond Fri, 12 Jun 2026 03:12:35 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/final-fantasy-resonance-brings-an-all-new-hd-2d-game-with-classic-turn-based-action/

It took a while to get going, but the Nintendo Direct has started firing out some exciting new announcements, and for Switch-owning Final Fantasy fans, the appearance of Final Fantasy Resonance, an all-new HD-2D pixel-art entry in the series, should keep them very happy indeed.

Final Fantasy Resonance is launching on 22nd October for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, and PC.

Final Fantasy Resonance is set in the world of Lapis, a place beset by evildoers, that lies on the edge of annihilation. You play as Rain, a knight of Gransheld, who must travel across the world taking down monsters and badguys in turn-based combat. There’s some clear Octopath Traveller vibes going on, but this also leans more heavily on 3D areas and 2D sprites, to give it its own feel.

You can also call upon Visions – Final Fantasy stars from other games, including the iconic Cloud Strife – to help you in battle, unleashing powerful moves and abilities as you do. These seem to take the form of full CGI cutscenes, which might feel a bit odd, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it turns out.

Either way, you won’t have to wait all that long to get your hands on this one. It’s just four months away!

Overwatch’s upcoming Japan trip brings Hero 52 and Tokyo https://gaming.vmondeika.com/overwatchs-upcoming-japan-trip-brings-hero-52-and-tokyo/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/overwatchs-upcoming-japan-trip-brings-hero-52-and-tokyo/#respond Fri, 05 Jun 2026 22:55:36 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/overwatchs-upcoming-japan-trip-brings-hero-52-and-tokyo/

ow2 all heroes 2026

If you feel like the current Overwatch roster is getting a little crowded, Blizzard begs to differ. The development team has dropped the curtain on what is coming down the pipeline, confirming that Hero 52 will arrive alongside a brand-new Tokyo core map.

The update builds heavily on the criminal underworld lore established in the short stories and comics. For players who have been begging for the game to move away from generic sci-fi facilities and back to tight, urban street layouts, this next phase looks like an answer to those prayers.

Cass 2.0 Hits the Streets

While Blizzard keeps the final character model under lock and key, leaks and development teasers from the community have already painted a very clear picture of Hero 52. The character is slated to be a Damage dealer who acts as the supreme leader of the Hashimoto clan. This is the ruthless yakuza-style syndicate that took control of Kanezaka and Tokyo following the downfall of the Shimada empire.

Mechanically, the early testing data points to a high-mobility skirmisher built entirely around dual pistols. Think of it like a spiritual successor to Cassidy, but trading the single-shot cowboy revolver for rapid-fire double guns. Up-close combat and melee strikes are heavily integrated into the kit, making her playstyle lean closer to an aggressive, combo-heavy duelist than a traditional long-range sniper.

Welcome to the Neon Underworld

The accompanying Tokyo map is a massive structural big deal for the game’s ongoing content cycle. Visually, it focuses on the neon-drenched night streets controlled by the Hashimoto. This marks a sharp contrast to the peaceful, cherry-blossom aesthetic of Hanamura or the quiet suburbs of Kanezaka.

The map addition also carries a bit of historical significance for the development team. With the arrival of Hero 52, the game officially breaks out of the content drought that plagued the transition era between the original game and its sequel. While the hero pipeline is now operating at a net positive, the map pool has been a major point of community frustration due to the recent system reworks and the retirement of older assault modes.

This core map launch represents a major effort to inject fresh variety into the standard competitive rotation.

A Narrative Collision Course

The lore implications are dropping some massive anchors for the future of the game’s story. Hero 52 stands as the direct employer and terrifying boss of Mizuki, the recent undercover addition who has been playing a dangerous double-agent game with Kiriko’s Yokai group.

Bringing the big boss of the Hashimoto directly into the arena means the localized gang war in Japan is spilling over into the global stage. It adds some actual narrative stakes to the match loading screens, giving characters like Genji, Hanzo, and Kiriko a very personal antagonist to trade voice lines with spawn room doors open.

Dual pistols, yakuza leadership, and a grudge against the local vigilantes. Kiriko might have a giant fox spirit on her side, but clearing the streets of Tokyo is about to get a whole lot more expensive.

Digital Eclipse Brings A Bunch Of Classic Toy Story Games To Switch 1 & 2 This Year https://gaming.vmondeika.com/digital-eclipse-brings-a-bunch-of-classic-toy-story-games-to-switch-1-2-this-year/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/digital-eclipse-brings-a-bunch-of-classic-toy-story-games-to-switch-1-2-this-year/#respond Tue, 02 Jun 2026 16:35:18 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/digital-eclipse-brings-a-bunch-of-classic-toy-story-games-to-switch-1-2-this-year/

Prepare your ‘Oh man, I am old‘ GIF of choice, because Toy Story is celebrating its 30th anniversary. We’ll let that gut punch sink in for a minute, but it’s not all bad news, because Digital Eclipse has announced that it’s got a pair of releases coming to mark the occasion.

First up, we have the Toy Story: Retro Roundup!, another Digital Eclipse compilation title that pulls together Toy Story, Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Toy Story Racer and the N64’s A Bug’s Life into one handy package. Being a DE joint, you can also expect a bunch of behind-the-scenes footage and interviews about the making of the games.

This one will launch on 15th October, with pre-orders starting today.

Here’s a brief rundown of what you can expect, plus some screenshots, from Digital Eclipse:

Rewind and retry instantly: Roll back gameplay to retry difficult sections without restarting.
Save and load anytime: Pick up and play exactly where you left off, and save progress when needed.
Customize gameplay experience with Rex’s Cheat Code: Use Rex’s cheat codes to immediately unlock characters, levels, and bonus play modes including invincibility and unlimited lives.
Learn with Practice Mode: Learn how to play by watching guided playthroughs or playing in practice mode.
Modernized “How to Play” guides: Get straight to the action with simplified, fully localized instructions adapted for modern systems.
Enhanced visuals with classic options: Play in upgraded, high resolution that brings the original look to life, or switch to the original PlayStation 1 presentation for a nostalgic feel.

Those after something from a little later in the Toy Story gaming world might prefer Toy Story 3 Complete Edition, a modern remake of the 2010 tie-in game. We have fond memories of this one from back in the day, too, and it’ll also launch on 15th October.

Once again, here are a couple more details and some screens:

Relive the adventure in Story Mode: Journey through locations, from Andy’s Room to Sunnyside Daycare, as Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie embark on an action-packed adventure.
Dynamic gameplay with co-op and character swapping: Switch characters on the fly to use each character’s unique abilities to overcome challenges. Team up with a friend in a local co-op.
Explore, create, and play in Toy Box Mode: Step into a vibrant Wild West town inspired by Woody’s Roundup. Take on missions, unlock new content, and complete rewarding missions.
Fun for all ages: Accessible controls, light platforming and open-ended gameplay provide a creative, low-pressure experience for new players, while still offering depth and charm for longtime fans.
Enhancements:
Up to 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on supported platforms.

The two releases will be available separately for digital purchases, but a physical edition will pack all six titles together in the one box. Pre-orders for the physical will also go live today, with the official launch coming — you guessed it — on 15th October, too.

Will you be checking out either of these on Switch (2) later this year? Let us know in the comments.
