If you’ve played the Star Fox demo on Switch 2, then you’ll know that it’s an absolute visual feast, updating the N64 original to a degree we simply never thought possible (ball’s in your court now, Ocarina).

One person who’s been open about how much the update has impacted him is none other than Takaya Imamura, the art director for Star Fox 64 and the developer largely responsible for the series’ overall presentation.

Speaking on X, Imamura-san explained how the N64’s limited hardware made it difficult to convey the differences between pre-rendered graphics and real-time CG at the time. As such, he says that the improved visuals for the Switch 2 version “brings tears to my eyes”.

Here’s what he had to say (machine translated):

“Back in the Nintendo 64 days, it was a struggle to get people to understand the difference between pre-rendered graphics and real-time CG. Many people thought the beautiful cutscenes on the PlayStation were simply a reflection of the console’s capabilities.

“That’s why, with Star Fox 64, we aimed to create demo scenes and presentations that were just as impressive as pre-rendered graphics, while still pursuing the unique appeal of real-time graphics. In that sense, the improvements in graphics this time around really bring tears to my eyes.”

Previously, Imamura-san stated that although he likes the design of Fox McCloud in the new game, he personally prefers the movie version. No, there’s no Star Fox Movie – as a reminder, the character actually crops up in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie; a surprise Nintendo itself revealed prior to its release with an official poster.

Even if you’ve yet to play the demo, hopefully the trailers and footage so far has demonstrated just how much of an upgrade this is. In terms of gameplay, it’s largely the same experience that we all went through back in 1997, though some additional content has been added to beef up the overall package.

Cyera eyes $12B valuation at 80x ARR multiple despite operating losses https://gaming.vmondeika.com/cyera-eyes-12b-valuation-at-80x-arr-multiple-despite-operating-losses/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/cyera-eyes-12b-valuation-at-80x-arr-multiple-despite-operating-losses/#respond Tue, 02 Jun 2026 23:03:41 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/cyera-eyes-12b-valuation-at-80x-arr-multiple-despite-operating-losses/ [ad_1]

Data storage security company Cyera is finalizing a round led by Evolution Equity Partners of at least $300 million at a $12 billion valuation, according to four people with knowledge of the deal.

Calcalist was first to report the funding deal, although TechCrunch’s sources added new details about the company and its financials.

Cyera has surpassed $150 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR), three people familiar with the matter told TechCrunch, though it remains far from profitable. The deal values Cyera at 80 times its ARR, a multiple that’s even higher than investors assign to many fast-growing AI startups.

Sources told TechCrunch the company is spending money faster than it makes it. Some of those costs are directed at hiring sales staff. According to Pitchbook, Cyera has added 500 jobs so far this year.

Cyera’s spokeperson said that “the numbers cited are factually and significantly inaccurate.” Evolution Equity Partners didn’t respond to a request for comment.

The new round is expected to come just five months after Cyera announced that it had raised a $400 million Series F at a $9 billion valuation led by Blackstone with participation from existing investors, including Accel, Coatue, Lightspeed, Redpoint, Sapphire, Sequoia, Cyberstarts, and others. The upcoming round will bring Cyera’s total capital haul to at least $2 billion.

Cyera, which was founded in 2021, has benefited as enterprises turn to its platform to safeguard their data from attackers weaponizing AI. When it announced its Series F, the company claimed its customers comprised one-fifth of the Fortune 500, and its revenue had more than tripled in 2025.

In recent months, the company has used its capital to finance operating losses as well as acquire other cybersecurity startups, including Index Ventures-backed Ryft and a less than one-year-old Genie Security.

Asus ROG drops Edition 20 gaming gear and your eyes need to feast on these beauties https://gaming.vmondeika.com/asus-rog-drops-edition-20-gaming-gear-and-your-eyes-need-to-feast-on-these-beauties/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/asus-rog-drops-edition-20-gaming-gear-and-your-eyes-need-to-feast-on-these-beauties/#respond Tue, 02 Jun 2026 07:28:48 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/asus-rog-drops-edition-20-gaming-gear-and-your-eyes-need-to-feast-on-these-beauties/ [ad_1]

Gaming PCs have become increasingly powerful over the years, but genuinely memorable designs are harder to come by. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Asus’ Republic of Gamers (ROG) is trying to change that with the new Edition 20 lineup — and at least on looks alone, it has succeeded.

Leading the charge is the ROG G1000 Edition 20, a limited-edition prebuilt desktop that swaps the usual black-and-RGB gaming aesthetic for a striking gold-accented design. It feels less like a collector’s item built for enthusiasts who want their PC to be the centerpiece of the room. Every unit ships with its own serial number, reinforcing the idea that this is a celebration piece rather than just another high-end gaming desktop.

A gaming PC that wants attention

The biggest talking point is the spectacle. ROG has equipped the G1000 Edition 20 with what it calls AniMe Holo, a holographic fan system that transforms spinning fans into floating displays capable of showing animations, images, and personalized graphics. It’s like an RGB lighting taken to its logical — and considerably flashier — conclusion.

The golden theme runs throughout the chassis, from illuminated accents to anniversary branding, creating a design that feels more premium. While many gaming PCs still resemble futuristic battle tanks, the G1000 Edition 20 leans into a more luxurious identity. The customization options are equally extensive. Users can sync animations, display GIFs, and coordinate lighting effects across compatible peripherals, turning the entire setup into one giant light show.

The specs are as outrageous as design

Thankfully, the hardware isn’t just there to support the visuals. The G1000 Edition 20 packs some of the most powerful components available today, including AMD’s Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card. Support for up to 128GB of DDR5 memory and up to 4TB of SSD storage ensures it has the horsepower for everything from competitive gaming to content creation.

ROG is also making a big deal about cooling. The desktop features a tri-zone airflow design that isolates major components into separate thermal zones, alongside what Asus claims is the first 420mm all-in-one liquid cooler ever fitted in a prebuilt gaming PC. Whether you need that much cooling is another question. But then again, practicality isn’t really the point here. The ROG G1000 Edition 20 feels like a victory lap for one of gaming’s most recognizable brands — an unapologetically extravagant machine designed to celebrate 20 years of ROG while giving PC enthusiasts something genuinely different to stare at.
