A Mortal Kombat fan has shared an impressively detailed cosplay of the series’ ravenous and terrifying Mileena.

Mileena is one of Mortal Kombat‘s most recognizable characters, serving as a villain and Kombatant in various games since her debut.

Based on her popularity, it’s no wonder fans would want to cosplay as her. However, her form-fitting outfits and that iconic demon mouth present quite the challenge.

That’s why it’s all the more impressive when someone is able to pull off an accurate Mileena cosplay, such as this one that was recently shared on Reddit.

Mileena cosplayer impresses with scarily accurate smile

Reddit user silverberryfrog shared several pictures of their impressive Mileena look, which feature both the character’s distinct mouth as well as the mask she often wears to hide that horrific feature.

The teeth are obviously the focal point of any maskless Mileena look, but the rest of the outfit is equally impressive.

This particular cosplay is based on Mileena’s default appearance in Mortal Kombat 11, in which she appeared as a DLC character. silverberryfrog’s look is pretty spot on with its asymmetric cut, purple gloves, silver gauntlets, sharp nails, and more.

The most significant difference between the cosplay and the actual design is the hair. While this particular Mileena look wears a bob with short bangs, the cosplayer chose a wig with slightly longer hair and longer bangs.

This was an intentional change, as silverberryfrog mentions in a comment that “I decided the little baby bangs did not translate well to my face.”

Fortunately, the cosplayer’s efforts did not go unappreciated.

“Those teeth are genuinely terrifying and I mean that in the best way possible lol,” said one Reddit user. Given Mileena’s canon appearance, that’s a pretty big compliment.

Others praised the cosplayer’s attention to detail, particularly Mileena’s sashes and gauntlets.

While the recently released Mortal Kombat 1 has proven controversial due to its pervasive microtransactions, a messy Nintendo Switch port, and more, fan works like this show that the Mortal Kombat fanbase is still going strong.

Tundra Esports is becoming a media hub, fans claim the org is completely dead https://gaming.vmondeika.com/tundra-esports-is-becoming-a-media-hub-fans-claim-the-org-is-completely-dead/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/tundra-esports-is-becoming-a-media-hub-fans-claim-the-org-is-completely-dead/#respond Fri, 12 Jun 2026 07:51:51 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/tundra-esports-is-becoming-a-media-hub-fans-claim-the-org-is-completely-dead/

tundra esports dota 2 disbands

Tundra Esports announced a massive corporate pivot that leaves them with plenty of memes but absolutely zero competitive players.

The London-based organization confirmed that it is completely abandoning competitive play across all gaming titles. Instead, they are rebranding as a digital media hub focused on news, entertainment shows, and interactive content. They told fans they are simply changing seats to follow the scene right alongside them from the crowd.

“We love you all far too much to simply pack up, shut down our social media channels, and fade into the background. That’s why we’re staying right here! From now on, Tundra Esports is shifting gears and transforming into a media hub,” Tundra said.

Dota 2 Fans Disappointed, But Esports Could Be a Sinking Ship

Fans did not exactly take the news well, with the comment sections quickly filling up with funeral arrangements. The overarching reaction can be boiled down to a single word: dead.

For the community, the frustration is entirely justified. Tundra was not a failing organization trying to sneak out the back door. They won The International in 2022 and their Dota 2 roster has been arguably the most dominant squad of the current season, recently winning ESL One Birmingham and DreamLeague Season 28.

If the literal best team in the world cannot make competitive gaming financially viable, it paints a pretty grim picture for everyone else.

This pivot to content creation is a playbook that fans have seen before, and it rarely ends in a standing ovation. When the esports winter hit hard, massive organizations like FaZe Clan and 100 Thieves tried to lean heavily into lifestyle and content creation to stay afloat. The problem is that fans usually show up to buy a jersey because they want to cheer for a championship team, not because they want to read an esports news aggregate feed or watch a cringe Kick stream.

The harsh reality of the industry explains why Tundra is packing up its keyboards. Operating costs in top-tier gaming have skyrocketed, with player salaries often outpacing revenue from sponsors or digital merch sales. In Dota 2, the situation became especially tight after major tournament structures shifted and massive prize pools shrunk, leaving organizations to shoulder enormous financial burdens without a clear return on investment.

Tundra has already transferred its entire powerhouse Dota 2 roster to 1win, meaning the players will still head to major tournaments under a different banner. Tundra gets a clean financial slate, but they face a massive uphill battle to convince a deeply cynical fanbase that their new memes are worth sticking around for.

Heroic’s tweet bashing Team Falcons called unprofessional by esports fans https://gaming.vmondeika.com/heroics-tweet-bashing-team-falcons-called-unprofessional-by-esports-fans/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/heroics-tweet-bashing-team-falcons-called-unprofessional-by-esports-fans/#respond Tue, 02 Jun 2026 22:11:35 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/heroics-tweet-bashing-team-falcons-called-unprofessional-by-esports-fans/

Heroic is under fire after sharing a controversial tweet that divided the esports community.

Earlier today, Heroic tweeted a simple question: “T**s or a**?” To represent the former, Heroic attached an image of Sydney Sweeney with a low-cut shimmery dress. For the latter, Heroic shared the Team Falcons logo.

It was meant to be a snarky tweet aimed at its Counter-Strike 2 rival, but many found it distasteful.

heroic tweet controversy

Did Heroic take it too far?

Rivalry is a fun part of the esports community. Everyone remembers that time G2 Esports flew a plane over Berlin with a banner that read “F*** SENTINELS.” Trash talking and saltiness make esports fun, bringing in the grunginess of gaming into a more professional atmosphere.

Well, is it professional?

Heroic’s latest tweet has people wondering just that. Many called out Heroic for not being professional and called for esports as a whole to be more professional. Many fans lament that this immaturity holds esports back from being welcomed into mainstream media and pop culture, keeping the scene feeling juvenile and unwelcoming.

This tweet in particular felt a bit tasteless, especially given that esports is often called out for its sexist environment. Objectifying women and making a tweet that’s sexual in nature didn’t hit for some people in the esports industry.

The other issue? Heroic isn’t even doing well in Counter-Strike right now, not even compared to Team Falcons. They recently bombed out of PGL Astana.

Said one comment on Reddit: “It’s funny when a team talks s*** about a grand finalist while they only have one victory in the same tournament. Not like I support Falcons or anything, but still it’s hilarious.”

While some found the post hilarious, it was overall a miss for Heroic, given the current esports landscape and the team’s poor performance as of late.

Is Rocket League cooked? The RLCS 2026 Paris Major viewership decline shocks fans… But the real reason impacts esports as a whole https://gaming.vmondeika.com/is-rocket-league-cooked-the-rlcs-2026-paris-major-viewership-decline-shocks-fans-but-the-real-reason-impacts-esports-as-a-whole/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/is-rocket-league-cooked-the-rlcs-2026-paris-major-viewership-decline-shocks-fans-but-the-real-reason-impacts-esports-as-a-whole/#respond Tue, 02 Jun 2026 08:00:06 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/is-rocket-league-cooked-the-rlcs-2026-paris-major-viewership-decline-shocks-fans-but-the-real-reason-impacts-esports-as-a-whole/ rlcs paris

The viewership numbers from the RLCS 2026 Paris Major were shockingly low. Like, really low. It’s easy to immediately assume that Rocket League is dying, the old esports mantra. But what’s actually going on?

Well, it’s not dying. But the excuses people have for the reduced viewership actually do point to one thing: it’s not popular. And it’s not retaining interest.

  • RLCS Boston Major becomes the most-watched Rocket League event

The RLCS 2026 Paris Major is still underway, with the best-of-the-best Rocket League teams from around the world gathering in France to shoot balls around while driving cars. There is really no denying that Rocket League is a fun game. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, it’s simple to understand, but the pros have some crazy tricks up their sleeve that raise the hype.

But does it make a good esport?

So far, the most-viewed match from the Paris Major was a Group Stage clash between Team Vitality and Karmine Corp. It reached a peak concurrent viewership of 179,000. It’s not horrible. Again, not dying. But it’s nowhere near the viewership numbers we saw at the RLCS Boston Major a few months ago, which had over 1.6 million hours watched on the opening day compared to Paris’ 800K.

The Secret Behind the Streaming Numbers

Esports Charts did a deep dive into these numbers and seems to think there is one key difference: Nicholas “Jynxzi” Stewart. The popular gaming streamer was a commuter caster at the Boston Major, bringing the Rocket League esports action to his 10 million-plus followers on Twitch and 6.3 million on YouTube.

Jynxzi was not a co-streamer this time. At least not yet. We will get Corentin “Gotaga” Houssein for Paris, a French creator who is excited to co-stream the event from his home country. This could boost the viewership, sure. But that’s the thing…

The RLCS Paris Major isn’t cooked. No, the RLCS Boston Major was carried. Now that there is no content creator boosting numbers, we can see what the true viewership is for Rocket League’s biggest event of the year.

And it’s safe to say that Boston’s numbers were inflated.

Esports Charts noted that even the RLCS Twitch channel was dramatically lower this year, going from 64,800 at the last major to 26,000 this time. Nobody was drawing people in, enticing them to check it out.

Esports Viewership Isn’t Actually There

Rocket League is not alone, of course. Most esports rely heavily on content creators to co-stream events to mainstream gaming audiences.

FlyQuest made some cringe video last month that attacked co-streaming, claiming that it was damaging the esports industry. Well, except their own content creators and stuff, of course! But streamers aren’t taking away from the esports industry. There’s nothing to even take. They are adding to it. They are bringing viewers in. Temporary viewers, but viewers just the same. Tournaments have started to rely on this rather than invest in their own broadcasts or create a structure that actually improves permanent fandom growth.

Without co-streaming, most tournaments would see pretty underwhelming viewership. In 2025, co-streaming surpassed official broadcast for esports tournaments in hours watched. Even larger esports like League of Legends rely on co-streaming, which became a huge topic of debate during the Mid-Season Invitational last year. Without popular streamers, the numbers would suffer. (Even with co-streamers, some LoL events, like the LCS, can’t seem to get any attention at all.)

You can say that co-streaming and content creators are saving esports. But I beg to differ. They aren’t harming it or anything. They’re not taking away views. It’s not like those who tune in to these co-streams would watch the legit broadcast on their own without their favorite streamer encouraging them. Be real.

So no, there is no harm done. It just shows how flimsy the esports scene is. It would fly away in the wind if it weren’t for the streamers holding the strings. Esports is just not large enough to support the kind of money that’s put into it. The numbers are all inflated. The hype is displaced.

Without streamers and their fans begrudgingly tuning in, these esports broadcasts would see a shocking dip in viewership. Like the RLCS. The fans don’t stay after. They don’t become die-hard Rocket League fanatics. They are Jynxzi fans. That’s it.

There is a reason that Evo is desperate to add content creator showmatches this year. It needs the numbers. Of course, the FGC does not want it. They’d rather die than try to appeal to mainstream gamers. But other esports titles know that it’s a necessary evil. It’s the only way to pretend esports is growing. That esports has that many die-hard fans.

But the numbers are not real. And there is only so much time that esports can buy until it has to admit that these viewership numbers are not here to stay.
