Nintendo isn’t ruling out a Switch 2 price rise depending on those pesky tariffs, as it predicts the new hardware will outdo the uber-popular OG Switch’s launch sales https://gaming.vmondeika.com/nintendo-isnt-ruling-out-a-switch-2-price-rise-depending-on-those-pesky-tariffs-as-it-predicts-the-new-hardware-will-outdo-the-uber-popular-og-switchs-launch-sales/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/nintendo-isnt-ruling-out-a-switch-2-price-rise-depending-on-those-pesky-tariffs-as-it-predicts-the-new-hardware-will-outdo-the-uber-popular-og-switchs-launch-sales/#respond Sat, 13 Jun 2026 08:55:09 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/nintendo-isnt-ruling-out-a-switch-2-price-rise-depending-on-those-pesky-tariffs-as-it-predicts-the-new-hardware-will-outdo-the-uber-popular-og-switchs-launch-sales/

Nintendo has made its projection for the Switch 2 launch sales numbers public, and while analysts are suggesting the console maker’s erred on the “conservative” side, it’s still expecting its latest hardware to bag some impressive numbers. Though, its president has said that the price of the console could potentially still rise, depending on how the whole US tariff situation plays out.

The sales estimate comes as part of Ninty’s forecast for the coming fiscal year, which is set to conclude in March 2026. How well does it think the Switch 2 will do? Well, 15 million units sold during the launch window is the number it’s touting.

That – along with 45 million games sold – is the bar Ninty set itself for this first year. The 15 million units sold figure would mean the Switch 2 outdoing the original Switch, which sold 14.87m units during its debut year.

Though, while these numbers might look big to the untrained eye, plenty of analysts think Nintendo’s being a bit cautious with its estimates due to the US tariff uncertainty that’s in the mix. “Conservative forecast from Nintendo here,” tweeted Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad, “Likely factoring in unpredictability around tariffs, pricing and production despite the positive pre-order momentum.

“For reference, our forecast was 14.5 million units by the end of December 2025, and that was already considered conservative by most of the industry. For what it’s worth, I do think Nintendo will raise its forecast if (big if) the tariff situation is reversed. However, main issue right now is knock on effects that are already in motion and creating a difficult environment for a console launch.”

Speaking of those pesky tariffs, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa hasn’t ruled out the possibility of them potentially leading to a Switch 2 price rise, depending on how things play out, according to report from Yahoo News translated by Genki.

“At this time, the top priority is to quickly popularize the Switch 2 hardware,” the exec said, “If the assumptions regarding tariffs change significantly, we would like to consider what price adjustments we should make and implement them after considering various factors.”

Damn, given fans have already called on Ninty to “DROP THE PRICE”, one can only imagine how ballistic things will go if the tariffs are deemed to necessitate a price change. How are you feeling about getting hold of a Switch 2 right now? Let us know below.

It’s been a big week for RuneScape: Dragonwilds! The survival game spinoff of the MMO classic had its 1.0 release date confirmed at Geoff’s Night of Shiny Ads, and now Jagex have another release date to hand over. This one’s for Umbral Sands, the game’s next big update that takes it to an incredibly hot looking desert.

The update’s arriving pretty soon in fact, as it’s currently slated for release on June 23rd, less than two weeks away. A teaser trailer showing it off almost looks like one of those destination holiday videos you see, only with some slightly orientalist desert music playing in the background as opposed to the most generic pop song you’ve ever heard with a voice over talking at you as if you’re three.

Watch on YouTube

Anyway! Here’s how Jagex describe this new area of the game: “This land was once a thriving civilisation. The Moon Garou, followers of the River Mother, called this home. They built great halls and towers across the land, and found peace here. Fuzan put an end to that.” Fuzan, for your context is a dragon. Funny that, given the name ‘n’ all. In Umbral Sands, you’ll have to be quite careful to not get blasted by the sun, as direct exposure afflicts you with Scorch, which makes you thirsty and hungry quite quickly.

There’s also the Fight Cave which can be taken on at the base of Fuzan’s Tower. This one is a “replayable mode with advanced modes, rare crafting rewards and powerful Vestiges for you to bag,” where you have to fight waves of enemies. Those looking to change up their ride will also be able to pick up a magic carpet, a new mount type coming with this update well suited for the sandy dunes. And as a reminder, after this drops, RuneScape: Dragonwilds will be launching into 1.0 on September 15th. Not long now!

Star Wars Zero Company will launch on August 27th https://gaming.vmondeika.com/star-wars-zero-company-will-launch-on-august-27th/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/star-wars-zero-company-will-launch-on-august-27th/#respond Fri, 05 Jun 2026 22:19:54 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/star-wars-zero-company-will-launch-on-august-27th/

At Summer Games Fest, EA and Bit Reactor have confirmed when players can get their hands on the XCOM like Star Wars Zero Company, with the new entry into the series dropping on August 27th for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series XS. Alongside the confirmation of the date, a brand new trailer was unleashed showing what to expect. General Skywalker is one of those you should expect.

Star Wars Zero Company is a turn based tactics game set during the twilight of The Clone Wars, and it follows Hawks, a former Republic Officer, and his group known as Zero Company. All of the Zero Company members are essentially mercenaries for hire from across the galaxy, with each of them having their own skills. You have a droid that will be to able to hack systems, a Jedi that has Force abilities, a Mandalorian armed with all the gadgets, and a Clone Trooper. That isn’t all as these characters are fully customisable, and you will be able to create your own squad members to create a team that adheres to your playstyle. Each of the main characters has their own story which you may learn about if your bonds deepen.

Bit Reactor, the team behind Star Wars Zero Company could be well be creating a spiritual successor to XCOM and that is no light conclusion. Bit Reactor is made up of developers that have worked on the XCOM games, so we would expect to see some of that influence and learning to be present within Star Wars Zero Company.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve takes off with an October launch date https://gaming.vmondeika.com/ace-combat-8-wings-of-theve-takes-off-with-an-october-launch-date/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/ace-combat-8-wings-of-theve-takes-off-with-an-october-launch-date/#respond Thu, 04 Jun 2026 07:21:19 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/ace-combat-8-wings-of-theve-takes-off-with-an-october-launch-date/

Bandai Namco and Project Aces have confirmed the release date for Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, launching the latest entry in the hit dogfighting series on 2nd October for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Pre-ordering will net you a fresh port of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War from 2006, and an unlock for the F-14A.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is a direct sequel to Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown which released all the way back in 2019. This time out, you’re a fighter pilot, adrift at sea in a rescue boat until the outdated aircraft carrier, Endurance, pulls you aboard. The ageing vessel, its decks crowded with refugees, has already retreated far from the front lines.

On this ship, you’re given a new name: “Wings of Theve”. A legendary ace, a symbol of hope, a name tied to Theve, the FCU capital. But, as it turns out, that legend was a lie; it was just a story made to keep morale alive. Now, you must carry that name and take to the skies with three new comrades at your side, fighting to reclaim your lost homeland.

Ace Combat 7 earned a hefty 9/10 when it launched, where I said, “In Ace Combat 7, dogfighting games have a new Top Gun. The VR sadly turned my stomach, but the series’ trademark action is bigger and better than ever, with the spectacular weather effects introducing a level of realism and drama that will win over any wannabe Mavericks.”

I definitely can’t wait to check out some more aerial combat, and I’ll certainly try to remember more of the story this time out, with the new first-person cutscenes looking like they’ll put you right at the centre of the action.

Blue Origin plans to launch New Glenn again this year after explosion https://gaming.vmondeika.com/blue-origin-plans-to-launch-new-glenn-again-this-year-after-explosion/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/blue-origin-plans-to-launch-new-glenn-again-this-year-after-explosion/#respond Tue, 02 Jun 2026 13:28:48 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/blue-origin-plans-to-launch-new-glenn-again-this-year-after-explosion/ [ad_1]

Blue Origin is planning to fly its New Glenn rocket again in 2026 despite last week’s massive explosion, according to CEO Dave Limp.

Limp said Monday that more of the launchpad’s infrastructure was in “good shape” than expected following the explosion, which happened during testing at the company’s site in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Limp also said that another previously flown New Glenn rocket booster that was at the launch complex, along with three of the rocket’s upper stages, “also look good.”

“We will fly again before the end of this year,” he said.

It’s an aggressive timeline for returning to flight after what was the largest and most visible failure of the company’s history. Many people in the space industry assumed it would take Blue Origin at least until 2027 before New Glenn would launch again, especially because it seemed like there was a lot of damage to the launchpad — the only one Blue Origin has at the moment that can support New Glenn.

Blue Origin has also not yet said what caused the explosion.

The company now finds itself in a unique strategic position. While SpaceX recovered in a matter of months after one of its Falcon 9 rockets blew up on a launchpad in 2016, that quick turnaround was due to the fact that it had a second pad nearly ready at the time of the mishap. Blue Origin is building a second launchpad at Cape Canaveral, but that project is in very early stages.

NASA is relying on Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket for its planned series of Artemis missions to the moon. Jeff Bezos’ spaceflight company had completely shifted focus to this program in order to support those missions, announcing in January that it was pausing space tourism flights on the much smaller New Shepard rocket for at least two years.

New Glenn’s first launch took place in January 2025, after spending many years in development — and suffering a number of delays. That inaugural launch was largely successful, with the upper stage reaching orbit on its first attempt, but the booster stage exploded on its way back to Earth. The second New Glenn launch, in November, saw Blue Origin put a pair of Mars-bound spacecraft into space and land its first booster stage on a drone ship. The company flew that booster stage again in April on New Glenn’s third mission, but the upper stage suffered a failure and the customer payload — an AST SpaceMobile satellite — was lost.

Blue Origin was preparing to launch a batch of satellites for Bezos’ other company, Amazon, on the fourth launch. The spaceflight company had not put those satellites on board yet, so they weren’t destroyed in the explosion.

While there was some speculation that Blue Origin might proceed directly to the larger and more powerful New Glenn variant when it returned to flight, Limp shot down that idea on Monday. The company will, however, change how it carries its rockets to the launchpad, and how it stands them up. Previously, Blue Origin used what it called a “transporter-erector,” which could handle both tasks. Limp didn’t specify what Blue Origin’s new solution will look like.

Revolut rolls out services to thousands of users in India ahead of broader launch https://gaming.vmondeika.com/revolut-rolls-out-services-to-thousands-of-users-in-india-ahead-of-broader-launch/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/revolut-rolls-out-services-to-thousands-of-users-in-india-ahead-of-broader-launch/#respond Tue, 02 Jun 2026 07:11:49 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/revolut-rolls-out-services-to-thousands-of-users-in-india-ahead-of-broader-launch/ [ad_1]

British fintech Revolut has quietly begun rolling out its services in India as part of a controlled beta program ahead of a broader launch, marking a significant milestone in its years-long effort to enter the country’s fast-growing digital payments market.

Revolut started taking signups for its India app earlier this year, and some users who joined the waitlist have been gaining access to its services over the past few weeks, TechCrunch has learned. The company confirmed the rollout and said a few thousand customers in India are already using the platform.

The rollout marks a significant milestone in Revolut’s years-long effort to enter India, a major digital payments market where the federal government-backed Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has transformed how consumers and businesses move money. UPI accounts for nearly half of global real-time payments transaction volume and processed a record 23.2 billion transactions worth ₹29.9 trillion (around $313.8 billion) in May, per Indian government data.

A Revolut spokesperson told TechCrunch that the company is currently “in the controlled onboarding of waitlisters” and that a beta version of its app, localized for Indian users, is available through the Google Play Store and Apple’s App Store.

“This is being done in order to gather feedback on core product functioning and enhance the overall customer experience and the value proposition before opening up the platform for a larger audience,” the spokesperson said.

The rollout is currently limited to a small subset of the company’s approximately 450,000 waitlisted users.

Users in the beta program can access UPI payments, e-money wallets, domestic prepaid cards, multi-currency cards, virtual cards, and disposable cards, the company said. Revolut plans to add its Lifestyle and RevPoints offerings before expanding the rollout. Family, or joint, accounts — available in some of Revolut’s overseas markets — will not be offered in India because such products require a banking license, the company said.

Revolut has been building its India business since 2021 and hired fintech executive Paroma Chatterjee to lead its local operations. In 2022, the London-headquartered company acquired Arvog Forex to strengthen its regulatory presence in the country and offer remittance and multi-currency account services. It later secured a prepaid payment instrument (PPI) license from the Reserve Bank of India, allowing it to issue prepaid cards, support digital wallets, and integrate with the UPI network.

The company told TechCrunch that it plans to open the app to direct onboarding of all users in the “near future” but declined to provide a specific launch timeline. Chatterjee had previously said in a LinkedIn post that Revolut was targeting a full product launch in India in Q2.

Revolut is targeting India’s growing base of digitally savvy consumers as it seeks to challenge incumbent banks and fintech firms in one of the world’s most competitive financial services markets. The company has previously said it aims to serve more than 150 million “globally aspiring, digitally native” Indians aged between 25 and 45, with a goal of onboarding about 20 million users by 2030 and processing at least $7 billion in transactions.

Consumer interest in Revolut has been building ahead of its broader India launch. According to Sensor Tower estimates shared with TechCrunch, Revolut’s app has been downloaded nearly 820,000 times in India since it became available in app stores. More than a third of those downloads occurred in 2025 and the first months of 2026.

While Revolut’s largest markets by app downloads remain in Europe, led by France, the U.K., Spain, Italy, and Germany, the company has increasingly looked to emerging markets for growth. Sensor Tower estimates downloads in Thailand and Vietnam grew 40% and 52%, respectively, in 2025, while downloads in Brazil surged 487% year over year to 1.8 million, highlighting the importance of markets such as India to its long-term expansion strategy.
