Iron Gate has unveiled the 1.0 release date for its Viking inspired survival game Valheim, with the game launching September 9th. It will launching for PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, Xbox Series XS, PS5, and Switch 2. The latter two platforms have just been confirmed alongside the release date announcement, and you can check out the trailer below.

Valheim 1.0 will have crossplay between all of the platforms so up to 10 players can work together to explore, build settlements, and fight monsters. Valheim originally launched back in February 2021 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest breakout hits of the year. Its lo-fi visuals, Viking theme, and refined survival gameplay created the perfect storm, no doubt fuelled by the increasing boredom of gamers stuck in lockdown. Over ten million copies were sold in the game’s first year.

Valheim Early Access Preview – A survival game with a sense of purpose

In our Valheim Early Access preview, Thomas said, “Valheim, while a bit rough around the edges, has a number of genuinely nice touches to its gameplay. When cooking food, you have to actually stand by it as it cooks and take it off when it’s ready – leave it on for too long and you’ll be left with a piece of coal – but stand by a fire in a cramped space and you’ll start to die due to smoke inhalation. For a game that’s just entered Early Access, Valheim already feels like a mostly complete game. The future feels bright for Valheim. With a solid arrangement of survival systems already in place, an engaging array of boss battles and plenty of extra touches, I can’t wait to see how the community shapes and guides this survival sim’s future development. This is definitely one to watch out for.”

Waymo launches a loyalty program with 10% cash back and free cancellations https://gaming.vmondeika.com/waymo-launches-a-loyalty-program-with-10-cash-back-and-free-cancellations/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/waymo-launches-a-loyalty-program-with-10-cash-back-and-free-cancellations/#respond Fri, 12 Jun 2026 00:24:47 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/waymo-launches-a-loyalty-program-with-10-cash-back-and-free-cancellations/ [ad_1]

Waymo is launching a loyalty program called Waymo Premier, which will offer frequent robotaxi riders a number of perks in exchange for $29.99 per month.

Premier members will be able to skip the virtual line and earn 10% cash back on every trip (and “even more during busy times,” according to Waymo). They’ll also get five free ride cancellations every month, and Waymo says Premier members will even be able to hail a robotaxi in cities where the service still has a waitlist.

Waymo Premier will not be available to riders in Austin or Atlanta, the company told TechCrunch, because its robotaxis are only available via the Uber app in those cities.

The loyalty program is launching as Waymo ramps up its expansion in the U.S., and prepares for an international launch later this year. Waymo is also starting to roll out its newest vehicle, the Zeekr-built van that it calls “Ojai,” in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and San Francisco.

The Premier program could also be the start of a new line of business for Waymo as it scales.

The company’s biggest partner, Uber, has built a sizable revenue-generator with its own program, Uber One. The ride-hail giant said in May that more than 50 million people now pay $9.99 per month (or $96 per year) for a membership. In exchange, Uber offers perks like 10% off of Uber Eats orders or hotel bookings, waived delivery fees, and other third-party discounts and promotions.

Loyalty programs are an even bigger business for airlines. The four biggest U.S. airlines would have each operated at a loss in 2024 if not for their money-printing memberships. The airlines have also shown how loyalty programs can provide value beyond the revenue they generate: During the pandemic, many of them used the programs as collateral to back emergency loans from the federal government.

Waymo said it arrived at the $29.99 monthly price and accompanying perks after considering “direct feedback from our riders on what they want out of a membership.” While it may be three times the cost of Uber One, rider data has shown that people are willing to pay more for Waymo robotaxis than for traditional ride-hail options.

Bluesky launches group chats, as company shifts focus to community features https://gaming.vmondeika.com/bluesky-launches-group-chats-as-company-shifts-focus-to-community-features/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/bluesky-launches-group-chats-as-company-shifts-focus-to-community-features/#respond Thu, 11 Jun 2026 22:37:29 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/bluesky-launches-group-chats-as-company-shifts-focus-to-community-features/ [ad_1]

Social network Bluesky launched support for group chats on Thursday, another feature designed to make the app more competitive with its larger competitor, X.

While Elon Musk-owned X recently doubled down on chats with the launch of a stand-alone XChat app, Bluesky is only now catching up by offering a way for groups to interact more privately on its platform.

The feature, which is arriving in the latest version of the social app (v1.124), is one of the first to deliver on Bluesky’s plan to focus more on communities, rather than trying to be a social network where people post solely to reach a wider public audience.

That’s a notable shift in strategy, and one that arrives as Bluesky’s overall growth has slowed. Today, the network reaches some 44.8 million registered users, compared with X’s 600 million monthly active users. If Bluesky can’t reach the scale of competitors like X or Meta’s Threads, it may need to find new ways to make its app attractive to would-be users, including by offering different forms of social connection.

The startup added support for messaging in 2024, but it only more recently began offering encrypted chats, and only by integrating the third-party messaging service Germ. Now, Bluesky is offering support for group chats of up to 50 people, its announcement states.

That’s smaller than X’s support for 1,000 members, but it’s a start. And the company says it may increase this limit in the future.

Group chat creators can manage their chats however they like and can decide who is allowed to participate, the company noted. They can generate an invite link that can be shared across the web, including in Bluesky posts where it’s displayed as an embedded card.

Chat participants, meanwhile, can control who’s allowed to invite them to chats — everyone, only people they follow, or no one. The default setting will be “only people you follow,” unless users select a different choice for DMs.

Sharing media in group chats is not yet supported, as it will require additional safety and moderation systems, Bluesky says.

In a series of recent posts from Bluesky’s head of product, Alex Benzer spoke about how Bluesky will be working to make its app more community-focused in the days ahead.

“Today, Bluesky is one big space. Communities will be smaller spaces inside that where you can go deeper and hang out with people who care about the same stuff,” he wrote. Benzer also explained that the goal was to build more community features on the underlying protocol (AT Proto) with support from the wider developer ecosystem.

“On Bluesky, you’ll be able to create communities, join them, post in them, and get updates,” Benzer added.

The timing is particularly notable given that X announced in April that it was shutting down its Communities feature because of low usage and too much spam. Bluesky, seemingly, is trying to pick up where X left off by catering to those who want more control and ownership over their online community experience.

For instance, Benzer noted that communities on Bluesky will get their own handle that doubles as a URL, like community-name.bsky.social or community-name.bsky.space. They’ll also be able to be set it as either public, invite-only, or private, similar to the options available on Facebook Groups or Reddit.

With communities, Bluesky is ultimately betting that people are looking for an exit from platforms operated by Big Tech players, and could be enticed to explore more open technologies where they feel they have more control over the experience (and won’t have their account disabled by rogue AI moderation systems!).

Along with group chats, the updated version of Bluesky is also offering a new way to share profiles via a personalized QR code, similar to other social apps.

Bluesky launches group chats and pivots to communities as growth stalls at 44.8 million users https://gaming.vmondeika.com/bluesky-launches-group-chats-and-pivots-to-communities-as-growth-stalls-at-44-8-million-users/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/bluesky-launches-group-chats-and-pivots-to-communities-as-growth-stalls-at-44-8-million-users/#respond Thu, 11 Jun 2026 21:17:40 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/bluesky-launches-group-chats-and-pivots-to-communities-as-growth-stalls-at-44-8-million-users/ [ad_1]

TL;DR

Bluesky launched group chats (up to 50 people) and is building Reddit-style communities with custom handles. Growth has slowed at 44.8M vs X’s 600M.

Bluesky launched group chats on Thursday and outlined a broader pivot toward community features, a strategic shift for a social network that has so far focused on open public posting. Group chats support up to 50 people in the current release. The company says it may increase that limit later.

The feature arrives in version 1.124 of the app. Chat creators control who can participate and can generate invite links that display as embedded cards when shared in Bluesky posts. Users can set who is allowed to invite them: everyone, only people they follow, or no one. Media sharing in group chats is not yet supported because it requires additional safety and moderation systems.

The more significant announcement is what comes next. Head of product Alex Benzer said Bluesky will build communities, smaller spaces inside the platform where users go deeper on shared interests. Communities will have their own handle that doubles as a URL, like community-name.bsky.social. They can be public, invite-only, or private.

“Today, Bluesky is one big space. Communities will be smaller spaces inside that where you can go deeper and hang out with people who care about the same stuff,” Benzer wrote. The features will be built on the underlying AT Protocol with support from the wider developer ecosystem.

The timing is deliberate. X shut down its own Communities feature in April, citing low usage and spam. Bluesky is picking up where X left off, targeting users who want more control over their online communities without Big Tech intermediaries. Bluesky’s Attie app already lets users customise their feeds with AI. Communities extend that philosophy to group interaction.

The pivot reflects a growth problem. Bluesky has 44.8 million registered users. X has 600 million monthly actives. Threads has hundreds of millions more. If Bluesky cannot match those numbers, it needs a different value proposition. Communities and group chats offer something X and Threads do not: user-owned spaces on an open protocol, where moderation rules are set by the community rather than the platform.

X recently moved in the opposite direction, launching a standalone XChat messaging app while shutting down its group community features. Bluesky is betting that small, controlled spaces matter more than massive public reach, especially for users who have already decided they want an alternative to platforms operated by Musk or Meta.

Whether 44.8 million users are enough to sustain vibrant communities is the open question. Reddit works because communities have critical mass. Bluesky’s total user base is smaller than many individual subreddits. The group chat launch and the communities roadmap are an acknowledgment that growth alone is not working, and that depth of engagement may matter more than breadth.

No Rest for the Wicked 1.0 launches on PS5 and PC in October – Xbox and Switch 2 are still to come https://gaming.vmondeika.com/no-rest-for-the-wicked-1-0-launches-on-ps5-and-pc-in-october-xbox-and-switch-2-are-still-to-come/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/no-rest-for-the-wicked-1-0-launches-on-ps5-and-pc-in-october-xbox-and-switch-2-are-still-to-come/#respond Fri, 05 Jun 2026 07:07:28 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/no-rest-for-the-wicked-1-0-launches-on-ps5-and-pc-in-october-xbox-and-switch-2-are-still-to-come/

Moon Studios has announced that their Soulslike action RPG No Rest for the Wicked will exit Early Access and get a 1.0 launch in October, across PC and PS5. Xbox and Switch 2 versions of the game will follow at a later date.

The 1.0 release will, as you would hope and expect, be a major expansion of the game, and promises to add over 60 hours of new content, a new horde mode, new weapons, bosses and enemies, new areas and a revamped class system.

Here’s the breakdown from Moon Studios:

  • Sprawling New Areas: Explore the full game’s 15+ hand-crafted regions filled with secrets, terrifying bosses, and intricate pathways.
  • Increased Gameplay Flexibility and Deep Progression: An all-new class and progression system allows players to fine-tune their Cerim warrior to their exact style. Two players using the exact same weapon will play nothing alike.
  • Persistent Multiplayer: Players can share their journey in free private realms where the world evolves even when the realm’s original creator is offline.
  • Final Story Arc: Politics. Revenge. Passion. The ending players have been theorizing about since 2024, including tons of hand crafted cinematic scenes will be part of 1.0 and it is worth every hour players have put into the Sacra.
  • Endgame Content & Replayability: Players will test their skills in challenging new endgame activities designed for the most dedicated warriors.
  • Crossplay & Cross-save: Full Crossplay and Cross-Save between PC and Console at launch.

Following its stint in Early Access, Moon Studios will offer existing players before 10th July on PC – it’s currently 30% off at $40 and will rise to $60 in time for launch – and those who pre-order in general on PS5, a bundle of extras, as follows:

  • A New Secret Hideout: Spirit Cavern – The legacy of Moon Studios now lives inside No Rest for the Wicked, exclusively for Founders. A hand-crafted home that bridges both worlds.
  • Sayer’s Vow: An all new Sword in the stone reserved just for the founders that only early adopters can extract in the game world.
  • A Custom Founders Tag ensures players are clearly identified as early adopters.
  • As a Founder member, players will get access to an exclusive Public Beta Test Realm reserved just for them, even after the 1.0 game launch.

The game is an ambitious one for Moon Studios, who took over game publishing after Private Division was folded last year. Since then they’ve added online co-op with persistent realms, adapted enemy AI to handle this, overhauled items and enchantments, and more.

Microsoft launches Scout, an OpenClaw-inspired personal assistant https://gaming.vmondeika.com/microsoft-launches-scout-an-openclaw-inspired-personal-assistant/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/microsoft-launches-scout-an-openclaw-inspired-personal-assistant/#respond Tue, 02 Jun 2026 18:04:37 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/microsoft-launches-scout-an-openclaw-inspired-personal-assistant/ [ad_1]

In the first weeks of 2026, OpenClaw spread through the AI world like a sonic boom, introducing many of the industry’s most ambitious technologists to the joy and chaos of an unrestrained AI agent. The project’s momentum tailed off after OpenAI scooped up its founder, but the influence is still being felt — particularly at Microsoft

Today, Microsoft is launching Scout, a new AI assistant meant to bring the power and flexibility of OpenClaw into the Microsoft 365 system. Built on the OpenClaw framework, Scout is an always-on agentic assistant, designed to work alongside the user with a persistent identity and style. Users name their own Scout instance — in my demo, it was named Sebastian — and are meant to give it ongoing feedback on tasks that could be automated.

As Scout VP Omar Shahine put it, the idea is to create an assistant that actively adapts to the user’s needs. “We all have our interesting quirks in how we work, and people are codifying those patterns into memories and skills that persist in their agent,” Shahine told me. “Then the agent becomes more capable, better understanding you and gaining more agency and exercising judgments.”

Scout is based in the cloud, but operates across the desktop and web browser also, so it’s easy to connect to inboxes, calendars and other systems. Scout will come with prepackaged skills for calendar management and drafting meeting agendas, among others, but Shahine expects the real value to be in the skills users come up with on their own.

The system also comes with extensive security protections, meant to address concerns of unsupervised OpenClaw agents running amok. Scout will come with a built in “policy conformance system” that will continuously check whether the system is operating according to guidelines, and each conformance check will producing its own audit trail.

It’s part of a range of AI products launched at Build, including the hardware-oriented Project Solara, an update to Copilot, and a new reasoning AI model.

OpenAI launches new Codex tools for white-collar work https://gaming.vmondeika.com/openai-launches-new-codex-tools-for-white-collar-work/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/openai-launches-new-codex-tools-for-white-collar-work/#respond Tue, 02 Jun 2026 16:09:04 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/openai-launches-new-codex-tools-for-white-collar-work/ [ad_1]

OpenAI is getting serious about courting enterprise users. On Tuesday, the AI lab released a new set of capabilities for Codex, meant to expand the agentic tool’s uses in the workplace.

Together with the new tools, the company released an internal report on how Codex is being used for knowledge work, finding its uses go far beyond software engineering.

“Codex now has more than 5 million weekly active users, up more than 6x since the launch of the desktop app in February,” reads a blog post introducing the report. “While developers remain the largest user group, knowledge workers now represent about 20 percent of users and are growing more than three times as fast.”

To further court those users, OpenAI released a set of six plug-ins aimed at specific jobs: data analytics, creative production, sales, product design, equity investing, and investment banking. Available from within the Codex app, each of the new tools bundles integrations, instructions, and context to allow Codex to approximate a specific job.

Like any AI tool, the plug-ins will grow more effective with user customization, but they’re meant to be effective tools out of the box.

A Chart from OpenAI’S Knowledge Work ReportImage Credits:OpenAI report

The new tools come after a similar push for agentic plugins from Anthropic, which launched its Enterprise Agents program in February. (A more specific set of finance-oriented agents launched in May.) With its traditional consumer focus, OpenAI has been slower to court enterprise customers, only introducing plugin support for Codex in March.

Together with the plug-ins, OpenAI introduced a new Sites feature, which allows Codex to output its work product as a hosted interactive website, instead of just a local file. As part of that system, OpenAI is partnering with Wix, Base44, Replit, Lovable, Figma, and Emergent — although the company plans to develop a larger partner ecosystem to support the service.

A new Annotations feature will also allow users to designate a specific part of a document or file within Codex, allowing for more specific commands and context operations.

The new enterprise features come just three weeks after OpenAI launched a new joint venture for enterprise clients, dubbed the OpenAI Deployment Company. The venture includes more than $4 billion in funding from global investment firms, with the aim of integrating OpenAI tools more deeply into businesses around the world.

“AI is becoming capable of doing increasingly meaningful work inside organizations,” OpenAI Chief Revenue Officer Denise Dresser said in a statement at launch. “The challenge now is helping companies integrate these systems into the infrastructure and workflows that power their businesses.”

Super Mario Bros. Movie launches Easter egg-filled plumbing advert https://gaming.vmondeika.com/super-mario-bros-movie-launches-easter-egg-filled-plumbing-advert/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/super-mario-bros-movie-launches-easter-egg-filled-plumbing-advert/#respond Tue, 02 Jun 2026 02:50:37 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/super-mario-bros-movie-launches-easter-egg-filled-plumbing-advert/

As the hype campaign for the Super Mario Bros. Movie ramps up, there’s now an advert for the brothers’ fictitious plumbing company to watch, and a tie-in website to explore.

The in-universe advert for Mario and Luigi’s plumbing buisiness popped up last night during the Super Bowl, and sees the brothers saving the day from a leaky sink.

An associated website for the business has also gone live at SMBPlumbing.com, and also includes a US phone number you can ring to hear a pre-recorded voice message from Luigi himself (Charlie Day).

The Super Mario Bros. Movie Super Bowl commercial. Watch on YouTube

Dial 929-55-MARIO and you’ll hear a message saying: “Thank you for calling Super Mario Bros. Plumbing, it’s-a me Luigi!” The note goes on to state that the brothers are happy to consider all jobs no matter the size – even in a mansion. Ha!

The advert in general is full of Easter eggs for long-term Nintendo fans, not least its use of The Mario Rap from the Super Mario Bros. Super Show.

Speaking of, numerous fans have suggested the voice of the homeowner here is Jeannie Elias, the original voice of Peach, AKA Princess Toadstool, from the Super Mario Bros Super Show.

A map shown in the advert also includes references to various Nintendo properties, such as Link Street, Hanfuda Ave, Punch Out and 189th Street (1889 being the year Nintendo was originally established).

The Super Mario Bros. Movie. is set for UK cinemas on 7th April, with Chris Pratt and Mario and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach.
