Iron Gate has unveiled the 1.0 release date for its Viking inspired survival game Valheim, with the game launching September 9th. It will launching for PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One, Xbox Series XS, PS5, and Switch 2. The latter two platforms have just been confirmed alongside the release date announcement, and you can check out the trailer below.

Valheim 1.0 will have crossplay between all of the platforms so up to 10 players can work together to explore, build settlements, and fight monsters. Valheim originally launched back in February 2021 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest breakout hits of the year. Its lo-fi visuals, Viking theme, and refined survival gameplay created the perfect storm, no doubt fuelled by the increasing boredom of gamers stuck in lockdown. Over ten million copies were sold in the game’s first year.

Valheim Early Access Preview – A survival game with a sense of purpose

In our Valheim Early Access preview, Thomas said, “Valheim, while a bit rough around the edges, has a number of genuinely nice touches to its gameplay. When cooking food, you have to actually stand by it as it cooks and take it off when it’s ready – leave it on for too long and you’ll be left with a piece of coal – but stand by a fire in a cramped space and you’ll start to die due to smoke inhalation. For a game that’s just entered Early Access, Valheim already feels like a mostly complete game. The future feels bright for Valheim. With a solid arrangement of survival systems already in place, an engaging array of boss battles and plenty of extra touches, I can’t wait to see how the community shapes and guides this survival sim’s future development. This is definitely one to watch out for.”

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush Races Onto Switch 2 This September With New Open World Gameplay https://gaming.vmondeika.com/hot-wheels-infinite-rush-races-onto-switch-2-this-september-with-new-open-world-gameplay/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/hot-wheels-infinite-rush-races-onto-switch-2-this-september-with-new-open-world-gameplay/#respond Sat, 06 Jun 2026 01:42:22 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/hot-wheels-infinite-rush-races-onto-switch-2-this-september-with-new-open-world-gameplay/

At the Summer Games Fest this year, Mattel and Milestone lifted the lid on a brand new open-world Hot Wheels game.

Hot Wheels Infinite Rush will be coming to the Switch 2 and multiple other platforms on 24th September 2026 and follows Hot Wheels Unleashed 2, which was released in 2023.

Rev heads will be able to travel across four islands and participate in classic races, free roam and a variety of modes and activities. There’ll be more than 150 vehicles to collect across four classes, and each one comes with their own special feature. To top it off, Ferrari cars will also be included!

Adding to this is multiplayer including “full cross-play” support and split-screen action for up to four players. There are also stick and livery editors, new wheel customisation, an enhanced track builder and you can add virtual opponents to your tracks.

You can get a first look at this new open-world take on Hot Wheels in the official announcement trailer above.

Control Resonant is joining the rush to release in September https://gaming.vmondeika.com/control-resonant-is-joining-the-rush-to-release-in-september/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/control-resonant-is-joining-the-rush-to-release-in-september/#respond Thu, 04 Jun 2026 00:23:25 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/control-resonant-is-joining-the-rush-to-release-in-september/

Remedy Entertainment dropped a new trailer for Control Resonant, giving us more backstory for our protagonist and confirming a 24th September launch date. Coming to Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC.

The trailer features Dylan and Jesse, the latter the lead of the original Control, trying to convince her brother to fight back against the otherworldly forces that are attacking Manhattan island.

The trailer blurb reads “Manhattan is under attack by otherworldly forces. Humanity’s only shot at survival is Dylan Faden, who has to remember how to be human again himself. But can he let go of the echoes of the past? And can he do it before all is lost to the Hiss?”

Also, while the trailer states that the game is coming out on 24th September, the blurb states 27th August. I really hope they can bring this one forward, because everyone else is launching in late September or early October to avoid GTA 6. It will be rough for developers, publishers and gamers who just want to have time to play the games they like the look of.

Silent Hill: Townfall wants you to “fear the truth behind the static” when it arrives in September https://gaming.vmondeika.com/silent-hill-townfall-wants-you-to-fear-the-truth-behind-the-static-when-it-arrives-in-september/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/silent-hill-townfall-wants-you-to-fear-the-truth-behind-the-static-when-it-arrives-in-september/#respond Wed, 03 Jun 2026 04:53:12 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/silent-hill-townfall-wants-you-to-fear-the-truth-behind-the-static-when-it-arrives-in-september/

Here’s the thing. When Konami announced that Silent Hill was making a comeback with not only a remake of its most beloved entry, but two new games from different studios, I felt quite curmudgeonly about it. I still do about that Silent Hill 2 remake, to be honest. Unfortunately, I thought that Silent Hill f was actually quite good, so good that here I am almost a year later still thinking about it. All of this is to say that hearing Silent Hill: Townfall, the slightly Scottish take on the series, now has a release date is just that little bit tantalising.

Said release date? September 24th! That’s almost literally a year to the day the Silent Hill f launched, so I guess late September is new Silent Hill game month now. The trailer did also show off a little bit more gameplay, giving a slightly clearer indication as to how that portable TV will be used. At least in certain parts of the game, it looks like it will show off clips of things like particular buildings you need to go to. You also seemingly need to attune it and calibrate it in particular ways, presumably so it’ll tell you where to go next. Looks neat! I like the game’s tagline too, “fear the truth behind the static.” Sounds like that portable TV won’t be so reliable…

Aside from that, it looks like there’s some puzzle solving to be done, some potential wife-encountering, and of course, some monsters to avoid. So far this is where the game is falling a touch short for me. Silent Hill kind of lives and dies by its monster designs, and these ones kind of just look like fleshy guys. Fleshy guys are absolutely a staple of the series! But these ones just look a bit too plain, I’m hoping there’s some nastier ones filled with Themes. I like it when there’s Themes.

Anyway, game looks good! I’m annoyed that Silent Hill looks good again, which is a nice problem to have.
