Platinum Games is hiring new staff for an online action game, following the departure of several well known developers from the company.

Spotted by Tech4Gamers, the company listed a game designer role on its official website, stating that an online action game is in the works at the studio. The job listing lists some desired skills, including experience working on online action games as well as history in level design for online or “open field” games.

Platinum Games, which is currently working on Ninja Gaiden 4 alongside Team Ninja, has had a mixed run these past few years. Bayonetta 3, got a positive review from us, Babylon’s Fall was an astronomical failure, and senior developers have left, including but not limited to Hideki Kamiya.

Given Babylon’s Fall, the online action title listed in this job ad would be the studio’s second attempt at this style of game. Platinum Games has long struggled with financial success, even as its single player games have proven critically popular, garnering a loyal fanbase over the years. Games like Astral Chain, which were absolutely mint, never quite brought in the big bucks. The company’s desire to pursue online games makes business sense with this in mind, even if older Platinum Games fans see the sort of games they loved become less of a priority.

Given that Platinum is only hiring right now for this online action game, it’s safe to say we probably won’t see it any time soon. But still, it’s something to keep an eye out for. We know Platinum Games has several games cooking in the oven at the moment (Ninja Gaiden 4 included), so while recent years have marked a new era for Platinum, it’s clear the studio isn’t finished just yet.

Akupara Games partners with Pixeljam and Behold Studios https://gaming.vmondeika.com/akupara-games-partners-with-pixeljam-and-behold-studios/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/akupara-games-partners-with-pixeljam-and-behold-studios/#respond Fri, 12 Jun 2026 08:19:31 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/akupara-games-partners-with-pixeljam-and-behold-studios/

Akupara Games

Akupara Games has announced two new publishing partnerships, adding indie veterans Pixeljam and Behold Studios to its growing portfolio of developers.

While both studios may not be household names outside indie circles, they’ve spent years creating memorable experiences long before independent games became a major force in the industry. Now, Akupara plans to help bring many of those beloved titles to new platforms and fresh audiences.

The agreement includes several well-known games from Behold Studios, including the Power Rangers-inspired tactical RPG Chroma Squad and the chaotic multiplayer survival title Out of Space.

Meanwhile, Pixeljam’s catalog joining the partnership includes Dino Run DX, Grid Ranger, Last Horizon, Snowball!, and Cheap Golf.

Pixeljam is also preparing to release two new projects, Cornhole Hero and Dino Jump, both scheduled to launch on July 23.

“I have fond memories growing up renting games from the video store and grabbing my first NES from a garage sale. When I look at what Pixeljam and Behold Studios built during the renaissance of gaming, I get that same warm feeling. Publishing both of these studios’ titles is an exciting trip down memory lane and an opportunity for an entirely new generation of players to discover them. We can’t wait.”  – David Logan, CEO, Akupara Games

PlayStation Studios announces God of War Laufey https://gaming.vmondeika.com/playstation-studios-announces-god-of-war-laufey/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/playstation-studios-announces-god-of-war-laufey/#respond Tue, 02 Jun 2026 23:02:31 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/playstation-studios-announces-god-of-war-laufey/

PlayStation has announced the last title in the God of War Norse Saga.

Showcasing 20 minutes of gameplay footage, we got to see Kratos’s wife become a new playable character. Faye finds herself in the afterlife of the gods.

We’re quickly introduced to Sekhmet from the Egyptian pantheon of gods, as well as a man who looks like a Chinese mythological figure. The armor of surrounding characters also appears inspired by disparate cultures, implying we’ll see a mishmash of mythologies represented.

Former Retro Studios engineer “let down” by Metroid Prime remaster’s lack of credit for original team https://gaming.vmondeika.com/former-retro-studios-engineer-let-down-by-metroid-prime-remasters-lack-of-credit-for-original-team/ https://gaming.vmondeika.com/former-retro-studios-engineer-let-down-by-metroid-prime-remasters-lack-of-credit-for-original-team/#respond Tue, 02 Jun 2026 01:49:25 +0000 https://gaming.vmondeika.com/former-retro-studios-engineer-let-down-by-metroid-prime-remasters-lack-of-credit-for-original-team/

A Metroid Prime designer has voiced disappointment that the game’s original team were not individually credited in the GameCube classic’s recently-released remaster.

Former Retro Studios engineer Zoid Kirsch, who was also unhappy about changes to the door designs, said on Twitter he was “let down” by the lack of individual credits.

“While many studios did amazing work on the remaster, I’m let down Metroid Prime’s Remaster does not include the full original game credits,” he said.

“I worked with so many amazing people on the game and everyone’s name should be included in the remaster, not just a single card like this.”

Along with the tweet is an image of the credits, which simply states: “Based on the work of Metroid Prime (original Nintendo GameCube and Wii versions) development staff”.

Following his previous comment on the doors, he did note that “the remaster is amazingly well done”.

He added: “The improvements to Samus and the boss models are awesome. I just noticed this particular change [to the doors] that stood out from the original. It’s still a wonderful remaster and should be played and enjoyed.”

Metroid Prime Remastered was announced at last week’s Nintendo Direct and has shot to the top of the eShop charts.

This isn’t the first game to have an issue with lack of credits, however.

Earlier this year, an ex-Sega developer highlighted the lack of credits for translators in the recent Persona 3 and 4 releases.

Before that, some developers were left out of The Callisto Protocol credits and accused the studio of “playing favourites”.
