Amazon’s annual Prime Day event is taking place June 23-26, the company announced on Tuesday. This year, the e-commerce giant is holding the deals event earlier than usual, as Prime Day is typically held in July.

“Members can save on top brands, trending products, and items exclusive to Amazon, plus fresh groceries, summer essentials, and back-to-school must-haves—all with fast, free delivery,” the company wrote in a blog post.

In the past, Prime Day was largely about scoring deals on indulgent items, but in recent years, shoppers have increasingly focused on essentials. Amazon told CNBC that groceries and household essentials will be a main focus of this year’s deals event.

The move makes sense, especially since data from the University of Michigan showed that U.S. consumer sentiment dropped in May to a record low as people navigate a difficult economy.

During last year’s Prime Day event, U.S. retailers saw $24.1 billion in online spend, representing 30.3% year-over-year growth.

Meta is taking its “13+” content settings for Teen Accounts global. The company said today that the setting, which it likens to a movie rating, will now apply by default to teenagers across Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger worldwide, extending a system it first introduced last October in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada. According to Meta, nine in ten teens have stayed in the default setting since that launch rather than seeking to change it.

The idea is to shape what shows up for a teen by default. On Facebook, the new 13+ setting is designed to hide content Meta deems inappropriate for teens in Feed and Reels, and to limit teens’ interactions with Profiles, Pages, Groups, and Events that mostly post such material.

On Messenger, it restricts teens from opening links to that content or chatting with accounts that primarily share it on Facebook. A stricter option called Limited Content, already available on Instagram, is due to arrive on Facebook and Messenger later this year.

Meta has leaned on parents to calibrate what “appropriate” means. The company says hundreds of thousands of parents have rated more than 15 million pieces of content, and that in its most recent survey at the end of April, covering parents in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada reviewing recommended Facebook posts, fewer than 2% were judged inappropriate for teens by most parents.

The framing draws on the Motion Picture Association’s public guidelines, though Meta is careful to note that the MPA is not rating or endorsing any of its content.

Alongside the rollout, Meta said it is testing a way to stop teens being served the same kind of post over and over on Instagram. Content about nutrition, weightlifting, or coping with anxiety can be useful, the company said, but is better balanced than shown repeatedly, so it is trialling limits on how many such posts appear in a row in Explore, Feed, and Reels.

It is a quiet acknowledgement that the problem with a recommendation engine is not only what it surfaces once but what it surfaces relentlessly.

To check its own work, Meta commissioned Alice, a safety firm formerly known as ActiveFence, to run adversarial testing against the settings. By Alice’s account, Instagram Teen Accounts in the default mode saw 68% less mature content than an unnamed competitor’s teen experience, rising to 96% less in the stricter Limited Content mode.

The assessment flagged two gaps, including that “car surfing,” a newer viral trend, was not yet restricted the way “subway surfing” already was. Meta said it updated its policies and that the fixes were retested before publication.

The expansion lands against years of pressure on Meta over how its apps affect young users, from the shelving of an “Instagram Kids” project to a steady drip of teen-safety features. The figures and the favourable audit are Meta’s own, and the company frames the announcement as progress. Whether parents, regulators, and the teens themselves agree is the part no press release decides.

The Swiss post-quantum-crypto firm has lifted its WeCan stake from 28% to majority and committed CHF 5M to accelerate AI-compliance tooling for Pictet, Lombard Odier and Barclays.

Geneva-based SEALSQ has acquired a majority equity stake in WeCan Group, lifting its position from the 28% taken in October 2025 and committing a further CHF 5m ($6.1m) to accelerate the joint development of an AI-powered compliance co-pilot built on post-quantum cryptography for the global financial industry.

The investment is being made through SEALSQ’s dedicated Quantum Fund, an internal strategic vehicle the company set up to back early-stage quantum-computing and quantum-security companies.

The customer base WeCan brings to the platform is the part that makes the announcement substantive. The company already counts Pictet, Lombard Odier, Edmond de Rothschild, Syz and Barclays among its private-banking clients for its existing know-your-customer infrastructure, which has been operational across several Swiss tier-one wealth managers since 2020.

The WeCan compliance stack uses blockchain-based document verification to handle the KYC and AML data-sharing that private banks have historically struggled to coordinate, even when serving overlapping client books. SEALSQ’s majority position now puts that customer base alongside SEALSQ’s own quantum-resistant Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and post-quantum-cryptography (PQC) IP.

The product the two companies are now building is the more strategically interesting half. The joint platform will use SEALSQ’s PQC primitives to handle the cryptographic layer, WeCan’s existing private-bank customer integration to handle the operational layer, and an AI compliance co-pilot to absorb the rules-based-to-judgment work that private-bank compliance teams currently do by hand.

The pitch, on the company’s own framing, is a compliance system that survives both the EU AI Act’s 2027 enforcement window and the anticipated post-quantum cryptographic transition that NIST’s August 2024 PQC standards have started to make mandatory.

The post-quantum dimension is the part most likely to be under-priced by readers outside the cryptography community. Existing public-key cryptography, the RSA and elliptic-curve protocols underlying almost every banking-and-government secure-communications system in use today, will be broken by sufficiently capable quantum computers.

The estimates of when that breaking becomes practical range from five to fifteen years, but the “harvest now, decrypt later” threat, in which adversaries capture encrypted financial traffic today and decrypt it once quantum hardware matures, means the transition needs to start now rather than then.

NIST finalised its first set of post-quantum standards (CRYSTALS-Kyber, CRYSTALS-Dilithium) in 2024, and the financial-services sector is reportedly the first commercial vertical where mandatory PQC migration is being seriously planned.

SEALSQ’s positioning sits cleanly inside that timeline. The company, listed on Nasdaq under LAES, has built a portfolio of quantum-resistant HSMs and is currently constructing what it calls a fully integrated quantum vertical-sovereign stack through its Quantum Fund investments in carefully selected quantum-computing companies across the US and Europe.

The WeCan deal is the most concrete commercial test of whether the SEALSQ stack can actually be deployed inside operational banking systems rather than remaining a regulatory-aspiration story.

The European banking sector is visibly building out a multi-layered AI-compliance-and-security stack in parallel, with SEALSQ-WeCan focused on the cryptographic-integrity layer, Bayshore on the legal-rule layer, and the BNP-Mistral programme on the AI-attacker-defence layer.

What the SEALSQ-WeCan announcement leaves under-specified is timing. Neither company has disclosed a launch date for the compliance co-pilot or specified which of the named banks will be the first deployment customer.

The CHF 5m commitment, set against the cumulative engineering work the post-quantum-AI integration will require, is best read as Series-A-equivalent runway rather than the cost of the full build-out. Whether further capital follows from SEALSQ’s public-equity base or from outside investors is the next concrete question.

SEALSQ’s shares were modestly higher in pre-market trading on the announcement.

Environmental activist Erin Brockovich has a new mission: bringing more transparency to data center construction and the impact those data centers have on nearby communities.

Brockovich — who was famously played by Julia Roberts in a film dramatizing her legal case against Pacific Gas & Electric — recently launched a website with a map of data centers across the United States.

The website describes the map as “a work in progress” that includes data centers reported by members of the surrounding community. In a Substack post, Brockovich said that after putting out a call for reports of data center-related issues in April, she received nearly 4,000 submissions in the first month alone.

“The single most common concern — more than noise, more than water usage, more than rising utility bills — is the one word that keeps appearing in submission after submission: transparency,” she wrote.

Brockovich added that she’s not “making a blanket argument against data centers” or AI, but rather against “the pattern our map documents: projects announced after permits are already secured, developers who don’t return calls, local officials who signed NDAs before their neighbors knew a project was being considered.”
